Applications Engineer

Frost Control Systems (FCS) is looking to hire one Applications Engineer to aid in production and development of our RWIS devices.  We are a South Bend, Indiana based startup that manufactures, installs and maintains Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS) Sensors. 

Applications Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineering to develop custom applications that effectively accomplish customer needs when necessary.

  • Analyze and work with engineering to edit existing computer applications to improve functionality as needed by customers

  • Help install applications and confirm proper communication between equipment and systems for each customer

  • Identify specific customer needs and preferences related to application and relay them to engineering

  • Test applications extensively to ensure they are error and bug free

  • Maintain computer applications databases

  • Liaise with sales department to identify technical requirements and develop future products

  • Act as our resident technological expert and advisor to our customers and sales staff on our products and services.

  • Connect with customers to analyze user experience and gain constructive feedback

  • Customize specialized applications according to customer needs

  • Collaborate with engineering departments to solve customer specific needs

  • Present new project proposals to sales department based on customer analysis

  • Maintain positive client relationships

  • Monitor all active FCS sensors in the field for failures and respond to problems as they arise

  • Coordinate with customers and manufacturing for the replacement of units in the field

  • Work with customer data sets and leverage into valuable customer insights

  • Assist and shadow Electrical, Mechanical, Field, Software and Quality Engineering Departments to broaden experience and add depth to the team


Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred)

  • From accredited university

  • Customer Interface Experience (preferred)

  • 2-5 years of experience working post-graduation (preferred)  

  • Experience with optical sensors (preferred)


Expectations and Benefits:

    • Work hours ‘flexible’, but designated hours are 9-5
